This volume comprises IMER-Bergen’s first integrated project proposal, DIVCIT, to the European Commission’s Sixth Framework Programme. The proposal outlines the planned research activities of 20 European universities and research institutions in DIVCIT; and it presents IMER-Bergen’s innovative ontological, theoretical, and methodological approaches to the analysis of diversity, citizenship, and public sphere. The volume’s format can also be used as a good example of the format of required by the European Union for integrated project proposals by those who plan to coordinate large-scale EU-funded integrated projects.
