IAESTE-praktikanter

IAESTE er en internasjonal organisasjon som utveksler teknologi- og realfagstudenter over hele verden. Vi har hatt gode erfaringer med å ta imot IAESTE-praktikanter tidligere år, og vi har nå fått spørsmål fra organisasjonen om å ta imot flere.

 

Praktikantene kan engasjeres for fra 6 uker til 18 måneder, men mest typisk for 2-3 måneder om sommeren. Ordningen er helt gratis for instituttet. Dette er en fin anledning til å få folk til kortere prosjekter som det ikke kreves så lang tid å sette seg inn i. Kandidatene skal være høyt kvalifisert, og man kan legge inn bestilling på hvilke typer kvalifikasjoner som ønskes.

 

Grupper som kan tenke seg en IAESTE-praktikant bes melde dette inn til Grete i løpet av kommende uke. Det må spesifiseres ønskede kvalifikasjoner, varighet / periode og hvilke arbeidsoppgaver vedkommende skal ha.

Felles allmøte om ledelsesformer – MNFAK/MEDFAK/JURIDISK.

I forbindelse med diskusjonene/drøftingene omkring ledelseformer som foregår ved UiB for tiden, planlegger Det juridiske-, Det medisinsk-odontologiske- og Det matematisk-naturvitenskapelige fakultet å arrangere et åpent seminar/debattmøte mandag 8. desember. Møtet vil være åpent for alle interesserte, og vi vil informere "bredt" når programmet er klart.

 

Vi ser for oss en blanding av eksterne og interne foredragsholdere, der ulike syn og "ekspertise" på feltet blir representert, med spennende debatter.

Vi satser også på at Nifu Step skal legge fram resultatene av undersøkelsen de utfører for MN-fakultetet denne dagen!

 

Mest sannsynlig blir arrangementet på Studentsenteret, muligens i tidsrommet 10-14, men detaljene er på ingen måte på plass.

Abstract: The adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) on polyelectrolyte-coated glass substrates was investigated using fluorescence microscopy. Glass substrates may inhibit adsorption Of proteins due to electrostatic repulsion. However, when the substrate is modified with a thin film of positively charged polyelectrolytes, proteins can be adsorbed due to the attractive electrostatic interactions. In this Study, poly(allylamine-hydrochloride) (PAH) molecules, which have positively charged amino groups at pH 7, were used to generate a positively charged layer on the glass substrate. A surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), was used to alter the glass-protein interaction and subsequently modulate the coverage of adsorbed protein. We applied this technique to control the heterogeneously charged microscopic patterns of biomolecules created when the adsorption of protein is done in conjunction with colloidal lithography.
