A Word from Department Administration

The work on the departmentÕs strategic plans for 2011-15 is now entering its final phase and will be ready for passing the decision by the department council on October 27. The plan has been reviewed at the department councilÕs meeting on Thursday and the last discussion round will take place at a meeting with research group leaders and the student council during the first half of October. We would like to encourage all the academic employees to come up with their own suggestions via research group leaders, and the administrative and technical employees via their own respective leaders. We would also like to encourage students to come up with their own ideas and suggestions and contact the Fagutvalget.

Best regards
Geir Anton

News and general information

We would like to remind you that the Research Days have now come in full swing. UoB is hosting the Research Days in Bergen, and all faculties are being represented in the programme.  All UoB-employees should have received the programme booklet and have most probably noticed that the Mat-Nat-faculty is well represented this year, particularly in connection with this yearÕs main topic which is chemistry. Below is an overview of the facultyÕs great contribution:

á      School project ÓVirtual chokolate cake bakingÓ at Department of Chemistry (Egil Nodland) and Krohnengen school.
The project has started with the start of the school year and the pupils present their results at ÓSchool DayÓ, on Friday, September 23.

á      Candidate in Researcher Grand Prix, Friday, September 23: Thomas Gjesteland, Department of Physics and Technology.

á      Knowledge Festival in Bergen, Saturday, September 24: Research  Square at Festplassen: Chemistry in everything at Department of Chemistry (interactive research station). Also participating is Medviz with their own station. The research station can also be experienced at Festplassen on Friday, September 23 netween 10:00-14:00 (arranged for school classes).

á      Kuvvet Atakan, Department of Geo-Science,  participates in the panel under the research arrangement entitled ÓThe Changing WorldÓ:

á      Tanja Barth, Department of Chemistry, holds a lecture entitled ÓA Glimpse from the ResearchÓ

New technological plattform for UoBÕs web pages

University management has adopted the decision that the new technological plattform for UoBÕs web pages should be replaced. A management group has been established to lead the work in finding the new plattform, and updates on their work will be published here. See the entire written document from university director.
