Department of Physics and Technology, UoB |
|
Today we are proud to announce
that 8 of our departments PhD students will be defending their theses in the
course of the next 6 work days – the first one
was already on Friday! Also, you are now reading this years last ordinary
issue of IFT-posten, next Friday a short annual report or a summary of 2011
will be published. Have a great weekend! |
Transfer
of vacation to the coming year/ advance payment of vacation Those of you who would like to benefit from the
scheme regarding transfer of vacation to the coming year / possible advance
payment of vacation, must sign a written agreement. In that case, download and fill out transfer form and
return the signed formed within December 31 2011 to Karen-Margrete Hovland, possibly
via email. NB! Without such an agreement the unused vacation days will not be
transferred to the coming year! |
Accounting Deadlines Documents in connection with the accounting for
2011 must be delivered to Harald God Gjerdahl within the following dates, in
order for these to be registered:
Reclassifications:
Monday December 12. Travel
expenses: Saturday December 31. Bills to
UoB: Saturday December 31. Bills
from UoB: Tuesday January 3. All documents that are submitted after the above
mentioned dates will end up in the accounting for
2012. Contact Harald should you have any questions or
if something is unclear. |
New Director at UNIS Gunnar Sand will no longer be the
Director at UNIS as of new year. All who are interested in Svalbard and the
northern regions, may benefit from reading the 4 letters to the editor in Svalbardposten in which Gunnar
Sand writes about what has happened during his years in operation and what
will be important in the future. In a meeting that took place last Saturday,
The UNIS-board decided to offer Lasse Lnnum, who right now is the University
Director in Troms, the position as Director. |
Registration in Cristin The
deadline will not be before the new year, but it is perhaps a good idea to
already start registering this years achievements in Cristin. One has to log
in as UoB-employee. This
includes, in addition to the scientific publications, newspaper articles,
forum posts, mediation – also on radio and TV, etc A good scheme is
otherwise that, if there are several authors from UoB, the first author of
all publications is responsible for registering data. |
This
summer, the Department of Physics and Technology became a member of Den nasjonale forskerskolen i nanoteknologi og mikrosystemer (The National Researcher School
within Nanotechnology and Micro Systems) which is led by Professor Jostein
Grepstad from NTNU. The nanostructure laboratory at IFT has now been given funds from the Researcher School in order to be
able to develop a PhD-course in nanostructuring and electron beam lithography.
According to the plan, this course will be first given in the fall of 2012. |
The
Norwegian Energy Policy in Light of the Global Energy Situation The Norwegian Science Academy (DNVA), The
Norwegian Technical Science Academy (NTVA) and The Norwegian Research Council
(NFR) will be arranging a joint symposium:
Among others the Minister of Oil and Energy Ola
Borten Moe will join the symposium and talk about the Norwegian Energy Policy
in light of the global energy situation. See here for links to complete program and registration. |
