Fra instituttledeRDet nærmer seg nå resultatet av prekvalifiseringsrunden for
søknadsprosessen med Sentre for Fremragende Forskning (SFF) - Forskningsrådet
vil annonsere dette rundt 15. mai. For de initiativene som går gjennom
nåløyet blir frist for å sende endelige SFF-forslag 22. august. IFT stiller
sterkt her da nå også SFF-forslaget fra Laszlo Csernai
”Center for Matter Dynamics under Extreme Conditions” har fått topp evaluering i
prekvalifiseringsrunden. Vi gratulerer! Fra før har vi ”Birkeland Center for Space Science” med Nikolai Østgaard

B. Kaffe, te og kake fra kl 14:00. This talk stems from a
fundamental dissatisfaction with the way in which the time-dependent
Schrödinger equation (TDSE) is presented in quantum texts. After a brief
discussion of time in classical mechanics an historical account of
Schrödinger’s own derivation will be given. Then it is demonstrated, contrary
to popular belief, that the TDSE is an approximate equation derivable from
the time-independent Schrödinger equation (TISE) (and not the other way around !). This derivation resolves many difficulties
associated with standard approaches. The implication of this point of view
for circumventing similar difficulties in derivations of the time-energy
uncertainty relation is discussed. Finally an interesting connection to the
problem of time in canonical quantum gravity is pointed out. Stort fysikkshow 21. april

Fysikkshow Bergen og EuroPhysicsFun den årlige
konferansen ShowPhysics
ved IFT 16.-21. april. Her vil 50 unge fysikere fra hele Europa samles for å
diskutere og bli bedre på fysikkformidling. Den nye lærdommen settes ut i
live med et stort (og gratis) fysikkshow på VilVite
lørdag 21. april fra kl. 11-15. Dette vil du virkelig få med deg så sett av
datoen allerede nå! Deltakerne har bedt om over 400 liter med flytende
nitrogen for 4 timer med fysikkshow. Mesteparten skal brukes av PhysiScope fra Geneve som tar
med seg sitt "levitating surf"; et brett
som svever ved hjelp av superledere over en 6 m lang magnetbane.
