A WORD from the head of department
The results of prequalification
round for the application process with the Centre for Groundbreaking Research
(SFF) is getting vloser – Norwegian Research
Council will announce this around May 15. For the initiatives
which go through the eye of the needle, the deadline for sending the
final SFF proposals is August 22. IFT also stands quite strong here now that
the SFF proposal from Laszlo Csernai ”Center for Matter Dynamics under Extreme
Conditions” has received top evaluation in the prequalification round. Congratulations!
From before we also had ”Birkeland Center for
Space Science” with Nikolai Østgaard & co in
the same category, and “Norwegian
Centre for Dark Matter Research” with Anna Lipniacka
& co right behind. This will be very exciting! A great weekend to all

Physics
Show April 21.
As mentioned in an
earlier issue, Physics Show Bergen and EuroPhysicsFun
arrange the anual conference ShowPhysics at IFT from April 16-21. Some 50 young
physicists from the whole of Europe will gather here to discuss and improve
their ways of distributing knowledge about physics. The new lessons will be
presented live with a grand (and free) physics show at VilVite
on Saturday, April 21, from 11-15 o’clock. You will definitely enjoy this
one, so book a date already today! The participants have requested over 400 litres of liquid nitrogen for 4 hours with the physics show.
The larger part of it will be used by PhysiScope
from Geneve who will bring with them their
"levitating surf"; a board which soars upwards with the help of superleaders over a 6 meters long magnetic rail. We hope

Norgesuniversitetet and NHO invite to a conference with focus
on sharing the experience and challenges in educational institutions’ work
with entrepreneurship. Projects which have received funds
from Norgesuniversitetet, will present their experiences.
In addition, John H. Andersen (Ferd Sosiale Entreprenører), Lene Foss (Professor innovation / entrepreneurship) and
Caroline Jenner (Ja-Ye) will contribute with their different
