From
the head of department
We would like to
encourage the representatives from all research areas at our department to
make sure that there is at least one person present at the semester party on
the forthcoming Friday, and this invitation includes both
the employees, PhD and master students. Please put this on your priority list
and join us, so that bachelor students can be better acquainted with the our department and thus have less difficulties in
chosing the adequate direction if they decide to take up master studies. From now on Kristine
Indahl Helle will be responsible for the writing, editing and publishing of
FIFT-posten. Therefore contact Kristine on possible
topics for IFT-posten. Best regards News and general information
Work on the façade, windows and roof of the
southern building
From October 1 here will be work on the
south façade of the southern wing. The work to be done includes: ·
Rigging of scaffolding with sheeting at a part of the southern wing
façade (facing the villa) ·
Fixing the steel window sills and plastering
of cracks in the facade. ·
Dismounting the window fittings and the filling mass round the
windows. ·
Windows will be fitted in again with new fitting material. ·
Fixing the roof. There is expected to be some noise related
to the rigging of the scaffolding. In the areas where the scaffolding will be
rigged, we advise the office users to keep the windows properly shut in the
period of reconstruction. The work is expected to
be completed approximately in week 45. New cleaning
services as of Monday 01.10
UoB has signed a new agreement on cleaning
services. For operating area 3, to which our building belongs, the provider
of cleaning services "Ren Pluss" has been selected. As of
October 1, Ren Pluss will be in charge of cleaning services in our building. Therefore
there will be slight changes in the cleaning routines, such as: Cleaning
of offices once per week Office
users are obliged to empty themselves the paper baskets into the containers
placed in the disposal room The new cleaning routine is still under a
trial and adjustment period, this process will take
up to three months. During this transition period, the cleaners need a bit
more time to get acquainted with the building. We hope that the cleaners will
be received well and that all of us will show a bit
pf patience until all is set back into place. More information on changes in cleaning
routines can be found here. IT-services out of service September
28.-30.

after completing their studies: Andreas Engeberg
from Aker Solutions and Hilde Nesse Tussøy
from Sjøkrigs school. They will tell us about their experience with
the studies and the crossing over to their working career – they are also
encouraged to give useful tips to the bachelor students and the future master students. This will be followed by an
exotic dinner made by our own canteen chef. H-bar will als obe open. The employees and master
