the head of department
Happy new year to all of
you! Right before Christmas I sent a note to all the employees of our
department regarding the improved use of department’s space. Subsequently, we
had many meetings where we received many good tips on how we can best proceed
with the new measures. The principle of sharing out professors’ offices remains
as it was – that is the only measure which really makes a difference in
giving us more office space, but some of the bigger offices will be remain in
use and will be functioning as meeting rooms for the use of various working
groups. We are starting with the
work in the 4th floor of the north wing already this weekend, although the
very noisy work such as cutting the concrete walls will take place after the
usual working hours, but the reconstruction work will lead to a bit of a
disturbance and we ask for your understanding. We will do our best to keep

Fire training Spring 2013
In spring 2013 Eiendomsavdelingen arranges several fire defence courses for UoB employees. The courses take two hours, and consist of one hour of theory and one hour practical training. More information and course dates can be found here. Registration
is done collectively, therefore send an e-mail to administrative head as soon as possible, so we can forward it. Guidelines for UoB employees’ travels

Funds are being
announced for PhD and post-doc projects via VISTA. It is a two-step
application process and the first application deadline is February 1 (brief
