From the head of department
This Friday I would like
to encourage all employees to give their votes to elect those who will
represent the different employee groups in the University Board as of August.
The candidates are presented on UiB’s election pages while På Høyden has once
again done a wonderful job with presenting the candidates and their views: Group A: Permanent scientific employees, Group B: Temporary scientific employees and Group C: Technical-administrative employees. Last chance to vote is on Tuesday, May 28 at 12:00
pm. Good luck with the
voting procedure and have a good one! News and general information
Deadline for complete study information is June
1.
The study plans for the academic year 2013/14 are
decided. It is important that the
students receive clear and complete information about the courses so that
they can plan their fall-semester. The deadline for updating the course
information for the fall semester is on June 1. As is
stated in the quality assurance handbook, binding information on the following should be
made ready until the deadline: ·
Schedule ·
Course description ·
Reading list Course
descriptions are available on uib.no at all times. On June 1 schedules and
reading lists are published for the courses offered during the fall semester. Publication
of reading lists
Reading lists
shall be published until June 1. Courses that will be taught during the fall
of 2013 are available on Mi side as of May 19. The reading lists are shown
under course descriptions on uib.no as soon as they are published on Mi side.
If the reading lists are not ready until June 1, a temporary message stating
when the final list will be available should be uploaded. The course
coordinators are responsible for the publication of reading lists/temporary
messages. Log in Mi side and upload a link to the reading lists (under Admin
when you log in). It is the administration at the department who assigns
course coordinators and grants them administrator access. Contact Kristine if you
lack the necessary administrative access. Fysikermøtet (Physicists’ meeting) 2013 will
be arranged August 7-10 in Bergen
The web-page is now open for registration, payment of the
conference fee, and abstract submission. We hope that all scientific
employees at IFT will take part. We also ask that this information is
disseminated to all students at IFT. We have planned exciting invited talks
and social activities which will attract both scientific employees and
students. PS: The
conference fee will increase as of June 15. Therefore, register now! With regards
from the arrangement committee: Anna Lipniacka, Per Osland, Håvard Helstrup,
Geir Ersland and Kjellmar Oksavik The Energirike conference 2013
Energirike will be arranging the annual conference August 6. And 7. in Haugesund. This year’s theme is Energy culture 2020: Knowledge and skills to make use of natural resources and forces, combined with the settlement history and human traces in the landscape, are becoming increasingly important in our times. Energy is a connecting element – our culture is an energy culture. In the absence of a joint message regarding energy/business from today’s government, it is necessary to create arenas for debating Norway’s unique position when it comes to access to environment-friendly energy until 2020. For more information see Energirike’s last newsletter STAFF
We are
delighted to wish a new colleague welcome:
