From the head of department
At the end of this week I would like to encourage everyone who are
after financial support for their research, to join the open seminar where
Anja will give an orientation about the possibilities within EU-financed research
in the future. I would also like to remind everyone that the application
deadline for Meltzer- and University funds is on December 1, you can find

Debate on the university's commitment to climate and energy politics
Wednesday, November 27 at 14:15. in the Auditorium, Ulrike Pihls
hus, Professor Keysersgt. 1 The rector Dag Rune Olsen has signalized that climate and renewable energy will be a new commitment area at UiB. Is it a research ethical challenge that at the same time, UiB carries on the petroleum research? What about the collaboration agreement between UiB and Statoil? Is it a dilemma that the agreement should lead to both increased oil recovery, research on energy conversion and renewable energy? The debate on these issues has been started in BT, in PåHøyden and in Morgenbladet (November 8-14) and will continue now in the Science and Democracy Forum. Announcement of funds from the Meltzer fund for 2014 - Reminder
The funds are announced for the following: · Students and
P.h.d.-candidates can apply for project stipend. · Employees
(researchers) can apply for sabbatical leaves or scientific travels. All professors and department heads at UiB can
nominate candidates for the fund's
prizes. Note that in 2013, candidates can be nominated for the prize of
honour. Employees can also apply to Bergen Universitety funds for
support for dissemination and publication of research results, as well as
organizing scientific conferences and so on. The application deadline is on December 1, 2013.
