Faculty board reports
that appointing of the new head of the Department of Physics and Technology
most likely will not occur at the faculty board meeting scheduled for next
Thursday, March 20th. The intention is
that the appointment to the faculty board will take place as soon as possible
after the committee had completed its work and passed its verdict. In case
this does not occur before April 1st, the temporary department head will be Kjartan

Disputation before the summer?
Final
deadline for submitting PhD theses is Tuesday, April 22, if the disputation
is to take place during this semester. Supervisors should have ready
suggestions for possible opponents at the time of submission. The last
possible disputation date before the summer is Friday, June 27. Library course - PhD on Track at the

April 2014 the University Library offers PhD candidates at the Faculty of
Mathematics and Natural Sciences a series of courses addressing publishing
issues, advanced literature searching techniques and information management.
The faculty highly recommends participation! The main part of the program is
held on April 8th and will include a free lunch for the participants, so
