Announcement of project funds

The Norwegian Universities announce project funds within ICT-supported flexible higher education for 2015, see the letter from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. In case someone wishes to start up such a project, a pre-qualification application must be delivered by May 15 so that it can be approved by UoB before the application deadline.

General meeting on construction plans

On Thursday, May 8, the Faculty Director Bjørn Åge Tømmerås will pay a visit in order to inform us about the construction plans for the coming years, including plans on both the EnTek-building and other buildings.

The meeting will be held at the Bachelor-room on May 8 at 13:00.

  Seminar on Heinrich Hertz

All are welcome to an open seminar where dr. Scient and Prof. Jesper Lützen, Department of Mathematics, University of Copenhagen will be giving a lecture:

·         'Mechanistic Images in Geometric Form': Heinrich Hertz's Principles of Mechanics

 Wednesday, May 7 at 14:00 in auditorium PI, Department of Mathematics

Language courses for employees

The Personnel and Human Resources Department offers the following courses during spring and fall semesters:

·         Course in clear language  (May 22 and 23 and October 23 and 24)

·         Nynorsk (June 18 and 19)

·         Evening course in academic English (begins on September 1)

·         Intensive course (summer course) in Norwegian for foreign employees (July 17 – August 9)

 

All of the courses are announced on the new employee pages where registration can also be performed. On these pages, you can find course descriptions for every single course.

Several more courses than what currently is planned can be arranged. You should therefore follow the updates in the course calender!

We are happy to wish a new colleague welcome to the department:

Mojdeh Zarifi is employed as a PhD-candidate in process technology as of May until April 2017. She will be working within the projects entitled «Safe long term storage sealing of CO2 in hydrate” and “Fundamental modeling of hydrate phase transition kinetics”.

On Tuesdays, every even numbered week, pub-lectures are held at H-bar. More information on H-bar's facebook page.

H-bar is run by the Scientific Committee and is primarily for students – employees are also welcome!
