FROM THE HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
A happy
new year to all colleagues and students! We begin the new year with a few
good news on the education front: Kjellmar
Oksavik notes once again a record in PHYS101 (Introductory course in
mechanics and thermodynamics for students at other departments) where 115
students passed the exam - 15% increase compared to 2012. Very good! Bjørn
Tore Hjertaker notes a successful implementation and trial of new technology
based on smartphones for interaction between the lecturer and students in
PHYS112 “Electromagnetism and optics”. Sigurd Askeland who carried out the
work, wrote a report
which can be (and should be) downloaded and read by all who are open to new
