This
week 11 applications were sent to the Norwegian Research Council. We hope for
a good outcome for all of these, and we hope that at the next round there
will be an even greater number of applications. Otherwise,
the educational administration reports a good number of applicants to all of
our master programmes, and that is something we
should all be happy about. Have a great weekend, Øyvind News and General

of the master theses
Examination Committee will discuss the new regulations
for master theses on Monday, May 26, at 12:15 at room 366. The meeting is
open for all academic employees. Terje, Harald Walderhaug (Vice Dean for Education) and Ingrid Solhøy (Faculty Administration) will give information on
the new exam regulations which apply to all who enrolled in master studies
starting from fall 2012. How should we relate to the new regulations and what
are the criteria for reaching the various grades? There are many different
interpretations of this and the Examination Committee would like to establish
a common grading practice. On Friday, May 23, there will be arranged a similar
meeting for those who cannot attend on Monday and for those who have read
several interpretations of the rules and would like to discuss them in more
detail. Information on the new guidelines for grading of master theses can be
