Professor Anne-Katrine Lundebye Haldorsen



Professor Anne-Katrine Lundebye Haldorsen is director of research on seafood safety at the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES). NIFES is a research institute with administrative duties linked to the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs. NIFES research focus is nutrition; feed for fish – and fish as food. NIFES is a national reference laboratory for several analytical methods, including the detection of pathogenic parasites in seafood, and has 81 accredited methods according to NS-EN ISO/IEC 17025. Research in seafood safety includes toxicodynamics and kinetics of inorganic and organic contaminants in a food chain perspective, from fish feed to toxicogenomics in murine models, and health effects in humans through intervention trials.

Anne-Kathrine Lundbye Haldorsen (BSc, MSc, PhD) is also professor II in food toxicology at the University of Bergen, and has considerable experience in risk assessment through being an elected member of the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) Scientific Panel on Additives and Products or substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP), and EFSA working group on undesierable substances in animal feed, CONTAM Panel. AKLH is project manager of several NFR projects and Director of Programme 3 i Aquamax (Sustainabel Aquafeeds to Maximise the Health Benefits of Farmed Fish Consumers) an EU6th Framework programme.

Role in NCoE MitoHealth: Involved in safety assessment of seafood products in marine midels.
