RESULTS AND FINDINGS IN THE SALTED FISH PROJECT
In spring 2009 a report by author Knut Bjørn Lindkvist was published on "Innovations and market responses in the Norwegian salted fish industry". The article can be found under "publications". Lindkvist has also written an article, "Mistrust and lack of market innovation - a case study of loss of competitiveness in a seafood industry", to be published in European Urban & Regional Studies vol 17 (1) in 2010 (January).
The report “Innovations and market responses in the Norwegian salted fish industry”, regards the background and the theoretical foundation for the research within the salted fish project.
The article, “Mistrust and lack of market innovation – a case study of loss of competitiveness in a seafood industry”, discusses the lack of accordance between market adaptation and traditional production practices, which may result in the loss of competitiveness within some industries. A key question is why the demands of the salted fish market in Spain seemingly is unable to influence the salted fish production in Norway.
Lindkvist assumes that structural conditions by the industrial adaptation and mistrust between several of the main actors in Norway may be the reasons for the reduced salted fish exports to Spain.
