Simon Day

Simon Day is geologist with a PhD from the University of Durham, United Kingdom. He is a scientist at the Aon Benfield UCL Hazard Research Centre in the Department of Earth Sciences, University College London, and works on volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis in the Pacific region. Simon Day is interested in interdisciplinary anthropological and geological work to reconstruct the past history of earthquakes and tsunamis in various areas of the South Pacific using a combination of evidence from oral traditions and geological evidence. In this project he has studied the 2007 disaster in the Western Solomons. He is currently a visiting scientist at the University of Califorina-Santa Cruz, USA.
